Privacy Policy

Kosagu (“we”, “us”) operates kosagu.com. This page explains which personal details we gather when you shop with us or browse the site, what we do with them, which outside parties see them, how cookies are used, and how you can ask us to delete your data. Privacy questions can be sent to help@kosagu.com.

1. Data we gather

When you order. To build and deliver a piece of furniture we need your name, email address, delivery address and billing address. A phone number is optional, but some carriers use it to arrange delivery of larger parcels. We also keep a record of what you bought, the size and finish you picked, and any notes you added.

When you write to us. We keep the emails you send and anything attached to them, for example photos of a damaged shelf or a measurement of your wall.

When you pay. Payments go through Stripe. You type your card details into fields hosted by Stripe, so the full card number never reaches our servers. From Stripe we see only whether the payment succeeded, the card brand and its last four digits.

When you browse. Our hosting and store software log technical details such as IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open and when you opened them.

2. What we use it for

  • Passing your order to the workshop that builds it and getting it shipped to the right address.
  • Emailing you order confirmations, shipping updates and tracking numbers.
  • Answering your questions and dealing with cancellations, returns, damage claims and warranty requests.
  • Spotting fraudulent orders and protecting the site from abuse.
  • Keeping the site running and finding out which pages need fixing or improving.
  • Keeping the financial and tax records the law requires.

Kosagu does not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

3. Who receives it

  • Partner woodworking workshops get the details needed to build and pack your order: your name, delivery address, the items and options you picked.
  • Delivery carriers get your name, address and, where they need it, your phone number or email so they can deliver and send updates.
  • Stripe gets payment and billing information to process the charge and check for fraud.
  • Service providers that host our website and deliver our email handle data for us under their own security obligations.
  • Public bodies, if a valid legal request requires us to share information.

4. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file your browser saves for a website. Kosagu uses two kinds:

  • Store cookies that remember what is in your cart, keep you signed in through checkout and protect forms from misuse. The shop does not work properly without these.
  • Stripe cookies placed during checkout to complete payment and help detect fraud.

Most browsers let you view, block or clear cookies in their settings. Blocking store cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.

5. How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we need them to deliver the order, honor the return window and warranty, and meet tax and accounting rules. Support emails are kept while they help us look after your order. After that, the data is deleted or made anonymous.

6. Your choices and rights

You may ask us at any time to:

  • show you the personal data we hold about you and send you a copy;
  • fix details that are incorrect or outdated;
  • erase your personal data; we will delete it unless the law requires us to keep a specific record, such as an invoice for tax purposes;
  • stop sending you any email other than messages about an order you placed.

Send your request to help@kosagu.com from the email address on your order, or include the order number, so we can confirm the request is yours. We will reply during support hours and let you know what action we took. Your local law may give you further rights, including filing a complaint with your data protection regulator.

7. Keeping data safe

All pages load over encrypted HTTPS, and only the people who need order data to do their work can see it. We use sensible safeguards, while recognizing that no online storage or transfer can be made perfectly secure.

8. Children

Kosagu sells to adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

9. Updates

When our data practices change, we update this page. The version published here is the one in effect.
